PABLO CALVILLO

___Pablo Calvillo was born in Malinalco, a small, ancient town in Mexico where nature is still a fundamental part in everyone's life and growing process. His father, an architect specialized in ecological building, and his mother, a graphic designer, have influenced his work since he started drawing at a very young age. Pablo moved to Mexico City to finish his lower academic and artistic education and then worked as a freelance illustrator while he traveled around the world for a few years.

___In May 2007 Pablo graduated from the Experimental Animation Program at CalArts in Los Angeles, CA, where he created several short films combining different visual techniques such as computer animation, film, video, and traditional animation. Since then he has worked in several graphic design, animation, and film studios in Mexico, the Czech Republic, the United States, and Australia. Pablo has worked as a Director, 3D Animator, and Art Director for commercial and music video studios and as a Story/Previs/Layout Artist in feature films like the Night Fisherman, Astroboy, and Happy Feet 2.

___His work and short films have won several awards like the "Jules Engles" grant, the "Full CalArts Scholarship", the "Latin Cinemateca" award, and the "Super Hero" scholarship, an award in which he illustrated one of the comics for the 75th Anniversary of the Kellogg Foundation with 75,000 published copies. His work has also been screened in several international film festivals and recognized cultural venues (LACMA, Stuttgart Int. Animation Fest., Platform Int. Animation Fest., UCLA's shorttakes Film Fest., Burningman, Valencia Int. Film Fest. Spain, Festival Internacional de Filmets, Barcelona, etc.), and featured in television shows in Mexico and the U.S. (Abrelatas, Canal 11, MTV, BFOC, etc.)

___Pablo's most recent work includes a music video and a couple of commercials that he directed and created with MaliArts, a team of artists that have been working together for a couple of years on several projects.

___Pablo is currently living and working in Sydney, Australia.
